Like the medicine
bottle instructions say,
"Best taken on an empty stomach"
I
have never been so sick in my life as I was after arriving in
Pakistan. I got a vicious case of food poisoning from the
hotel buffet (lesson 1 - never eat buffet food) the second day I
was in Karachi. From a semi conscious condition and
disintegrating under the blankets of my hotel bed I managed to
phone the front desk and order an ambulance. They loaded
me up in a wheelchair and sped me off to the Agha Khan hospital
where I was to spend a week with an IV drip in my arm learning
the finer points of cricket, as that's all that was ever on
television. An exciting introduction to a very exciting
country! I was to spend over a year in Karachi, Pakistan
and during that time I made some friendships that will last a
lifetime and experienced some things that I will never, never
forget.
The People
They can be crazy. They can be deadly. They can be
serious and they can be funny. But most of all they are
extremely hospitable.
