Can you say
“Bonus Day”? That’s right, this year we added a day onto our
regular trip time so we had even more time available for slaying
fish!
This year
we were back to the regular daily routine which goes something
like this:
1. Wake up
early to the sound of mosquitoes trying to drill into your
sleeping bag
2. Consider
putting on new clothes…decide no and throw on yesterday’s fish
slime covered jeans
3.
Breakfast of campfire coffee, eggs, beans, bacon
4. Go
fishing!
5. At 9:30
am do the mental morality calculation of cracking the first beer;
decide ‘Hell Yes’ and proceed to drain can. Continue to rest of
cans at a comfortable but steady pace
6. Around
noon after pulling in a few dozen fish head to the island for
shore lunch
7. Eat
lunch, tell jokes, have a sleep
8. Go
fishing!
9. Have a
chew
10. When
arms are sore from reeling in fish head back to camp
11. Get a
rum, fillet fish, cook supper
12. Tell
jokes and lies, drink rum, ponder big thoughts, eventually retire
to tent
This was a
very easy schedule compared to last year, which included ‘Fishing
Trip Olympics’, bear attacks, and various other highly dangerous
and physically demanding activities!
The
biggest fish catcher was probably Colby, followed closely by Tom
and Skinnah. Brian caught the biggest fish of the trip (13
pounds) and Tom caught the smallest (3 inch pike). I think Mark
may have caught the biggest rum hangover, but that didn’t slow him
down a bit. |
