It is now Tuesday after the big
weekend and I still have that hungover, dizzy, groggy feeling
which I expect to last for a few days more...
The party started on Wednesday night
at my aunt Hazel's place and I am ashamed to report that I did not
attend due to excruciating mouth pain caused by the extraction of
a wisdom tooth that must have had eleven roots. Thursday
wasn't much better - we attended the party at dad's place and I
was actually standing up but a little shaky and was able to
consume only a single glass of wine.
Friday's party was at Hazel and
Ian's place, great party, lots of great food, and lots of family
and friends. At the end of the night Marty took dad, Mark,
Curtis and I for a cruise in the beautiful old bomber he rented.
We went for a quick beer then moved on to dad's place and smoked
cigars and drank beer and port in his garage until somebody (curtis)
passed out sitting up.
The wedding day turned out
fantastic - it was close to 30 degrees outside with a gentle
breeze and a lot of smiling faces. Carrie played a cool song
for Marty and Jen at the wedding. Jen and Marty did such a
great job organizing the wedding and everything really seemed to
come together perfectly. The wedding party took off for
pictures in the park and we all reconvened at the hall for a giant
session of serious boozing, laughing and especially dancing.
The dj finished around midnight but the guests weren't finished
yet. Curt and Carrie invited the wedding (yes, the wedding)
back to their place for what turned out to be the house party of
the year. In fact, it may have been the best house party I
have ever attended in my life!! I don't know what was
funnier, my uncle Mark jigging around the living room doing a
horrific accordion solo or when Marty's friend Jay did a superman
leap over Curt's head and landed in (not against) the wall!
Oh yes, I just remembered that Skinnah had our taxi driver stop at
his parent's place en route to the party where we jumped out, went
upstairs, grabbed their cooler full of cold beer, and hopped back
in the taxi. They didn't even try to stop us! Way to
go mr. and mrs. Skinnah!
Sunday morning was grim, especially
for the ladies with the giant hangovers. The gift opening
started at 12:30 which was a perfect time to get back into the
beers, which we did. I didn't really see what Mards and Jen
got for gifts, but I hope they made out all right.
If anybody reading this has any
good pics from the wedding, please email them to me so I can add
them into the collection here. And keep an eye here over the
next couple weeks for the new ones which I will add.
Well, Marty and Jen, you look
perfect together and we all wish you a life full of happiness,
health, and the occasional boys weekend away!
