Font
Hill, Ontario was the venue for the wedding party of the year! Finally, after all
those years of flipping burgers Uncle Mikey decided it was time to get serious and settle
down with his dream girl Anna. The party started at Michael and Anna's house in Font
Hill where we settled in for a great barbeque and some serious beer drinking. The
whole family turned out for this one and we started it off great! Not sure who was
the last man standing but when we left I saw uncle Mark out by the barbeque softly singing
Spanish lullabies to himself and finishing off the rest of the keg.
The next day begun with a round of stinging
hangovers which lasted right up until the ceremony. We had live music from uncle Rod
and Deb which made the ceremony even nicer. Anna was absolutely beautiful and
Michael spent the whole time up there with a big happy grin on his face. Chuckie and
Mika did a great job as the ring boy and flower girl.
We went back to Mike and Anna's after the
ceremony to start up the beer drinking and to watch the campfire scene of "Blazing
Saddles". Toilet humour is an integral part of the Olson genre, as is any sort
of activitiy/contest which involves small dogs, such as "spin the pug",
"feed Oscar beer", and the all time classic, "watch the
Malamute eat the Pug".
This was followed by the reception at the local
country club which was complete with lots of food, booze, and great people all having a
great time. Mark did a superb job as the MC and featured a most entertaining slide
show. The highlight of the reception was when Grandpa delivered a touching speech
congratulating Michael and Anna.
The remainder of the evening was filled with
joke telling, cigar smoking, impromptu dancing, a big jam session, and a midnight streak
on the 18th hole. When the reception finished, a select few of the wedding crowd
decided it would be a good idea to hit the town bar for last call. So we charged
into the bar, ordered more beers, then had a good boogie session while Aaron and Ana did a
scorching karaoke rendition of "Love Shack" much to the delight of the local pub
folk. Unfortunately, at the end of that number Ana and I had to drive back to
Toronto to catch a plane so we missed out on the following day's activities which, I hear,
included more beer drinking, a great meal at On The Twenty restaurantlocated in Jordan
and a special show by the Five Minute Miracle.
